EMPHASIZING QUALITY

Electronic Substrates

Electronic substrates are the foundational supports in producing critical electronic circuits, essential to devices like computer chips, multi-chip modules, circuit boards, and disk drives.

In manufacturing, ceramic substrates are typically tape cast or roll compacted into flexible film sheets. These sheets are then cut and sized and may undergo various processing steps, including punching, filling, laminating, scribing, and co-firing. Post-firing, these substrates or packages often require additional processing, such as laser machining, lapping, polishing, etching, or plating.

Alumina is a key component in these substrates, enhancing mechanical, thermal, and dielectric properties. Adding alumina improves mechanical strength and hardness, fortifying the overall integrity of the substrates. It also enhances thermal and electrical properties, including the expansion coefficient, conductivity, dielectric constant, and resistivity.

Almatis caters to the diverse needs of electronic substrate manufacturing with its range of unground and continuous ground calcined aluminas. Our unground alumina is ideal for users who prefer to custom-process the material for specific particle size distribution through wet or dry processing. Alternatively, our continuous ground products are suited for those who opt for blending rather than grinding components.

Emphasizing quality, our aluminas are characterized by low impurity levels, particularly low Na2O content, to enhance processing and improve the final properties of the electronic substrate.
